ALERT - Aviation Learning Employing Real Threats

ALERT, (Aviation Learning Employing Real Threats) is like no other xray image recognition system…

As a result of establishing the actual learning needs and requirements of the screener by conducting a formal training analysis we have avoided the problematic and age old problem many current systems cause operators by creating Negative Habit Transfer (NHT). Our threat library database contains real threat items and exceeds the requirements of EU legislation (11.4.1) and there is a quarterly on-going update of new and emerging threats as well as those influenced by customer based concerns. This training tool is an evolving system and will therefore grow with the industry threats and will not become obsolete as a result of new machinery or challenges in detection capability.

In essence if the machine can detect it, we can replicate it in ‘true’ imagery and functionality.

Alert overview

Each image generated by the system is a real x-ray image and presents the screener with real-time Dual View (DV) and all relevant functions and enhancements which work correctly as on the real machine, each one providing the real x-ray image in the correct colour palette and orientation from the machine. Training trials have proven that there is no NHT and that the trainees very quickly become engrossed in a challenging and intuitive training system that is robust, reliable and effective which focuses them on finding threats using correct techniques.

Alert training screen

The crucial difference with ALERT is in the post training report where we are able to identify operator error rate profiling for failures, identifying if a screener has screen fixation (one particular screen) which often manifests in threats being missed, trend spotting for use of enhancements, or not, rate of detection and accuracy of categorising threats. The addition of unique training management functions such as managing individual 6 monthly training hours, notification by exception significantly ease the burden on training managers and trainers and other functions that we can illustrate.
