Redline currently provide industry leading x-ray screener ‘certificated’ training, including initial and refresher training as well as remedial training for staff that under-perform.
Course Details
With our own state of the art training centre equipped with x-ray machinery from legacy systems to ‘Gen 3’ technology, we can facilitate training at the National Security Training Centre or we will provide the same quality of training delivery, training aids and professionalism on your own equipment at your location.
We have extensive hands-on experience of the problems faced by x-ray operators in airports worldwide, therefore, we are able to tailor our training to ensure that the standard and competence of all screeners continually improves and is effective at detecting the most up to date threat items.
Where CBT fails to ensure those undertaking training are monitored and receive directed learning, our equipment based (or on the job) training ensures all screeners understand how to search for, acquire, detect and recognise all threats from the x-ray image and can utilise the equipment to its full potential as designed by the manufacturer.
This approach has yielded ‘significant’ improvements in all of the airports that we have introduced ‘toolbox training’, thereby giving them the best possible chance of detecting any prohibited item and, most importantly, equipping them with the depth of knowledge to deal with the consequences of finding such items, which is often overlooked.
We conduct the following:
- X-ray screener initial on the job training (OJT)
- Annual (mandatory) recurrent training using real threat items from a vast selection of weapons, sharps, prohibited items and explosive devices (all inert)
- One-to-one refresher training (where applicable) for under-performing screeners
- Instructor-led, directed and interactive training to ensure progressive learning and robust standards; not currently achievable through use of CBT training systems
- NXCT certification
Training that makes a Difference
As a thoroughbred, DfT accredited training provider, we are able to blend x-ray recurrent training with the content of industry leading courses, such as the Recognition of Firearms and Explosives (RFX) courses, thereby adding value and improving the overall training experience and output standard.
As all Redline trainers have worked on x-ray equipment and conduct this training on a daily basis we are able to train from experience and ensure your staff are effective in their primary role of deterring, detecting, recognising and containing threat.
Because we also deliver RFX courses we are able to provide real-time, practical training and put your staff into situations that have consequences, as they may experience in ‘real life’. To that end, your staff will experience training with weapons, components and explosive components all of which are hidden within real bags. They will be expected to detect, recognise and manage the consequences thereafter.
This method of instructor-led practical training ensures that staff can relate what they see on the screen to the dimensions of the real item. Unlike other training systems that are picture based, we bring things to life which has proven to improve confidence, credibility and detection capability.
