Lieutenant General Sir Gary Coward KBE CB, Chairman of Redline Assured Security, will add another role to his distinguished career when he takes the helm as Chairman of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, in March 2017.
Sir Gary said: “I am delighted to be joining SSAFA at a time when the work of the charity to deliver services and support to so many is vital. SSAFA leads the way in caring for our Armed Forces, whether serving, reservists, or veterans, and their families. Over 80,000 people were assisted last year through SSAFA’s programmes, including housing, mentoring, welfare advice and support, health & social care services and support groups for the families of the wounded or bereaved.”
Sir Gary was appointed Chairman of Redline Assured Security in 2013 and has guided the board to grow the security training, consultancy, quality assurance and software development that the company delivers to airports, blue chip companies, and sites of special and national importance, worldwide.
Half of the Redline Board and around 40% of current Redline employees have previously served in the UK Armed Forces. The company understands first-hand the rigours and challenges of readjustment following a military career.
Paul Mason, Redline’s Chief Executive has been at the helm of the company since 2006, guiding the business from a concept through to the internationally recognised company that it is today. “After 21 years serving in the military, I am delighted to have established a company that inspired Sir Gary to become its Chairman. His support, guidance and strategic advice to myself and the Redline Board has been invaluable. Sir Gary’s ability to influence and persuade at the highest levels will surely be an asset to SSAFA as they continue to deliver services and support to the UK’s Armed Forces and their dependents.”
